So my car is going to be in the shop for 8 days and because I'm not 21 I can not get a rental car. Does anyone know if I can rent a car from a private citizen and get reimbursed from the insurance company. I found someone who will let me rent thier unused car for 8 days for $1000. Does this seem fair and will they pay for it. I need a car to get back and forth to work while my car is in the shop.

Insurance will only reimburse you if you had actually purchased the rental car option with the insurance. And $1000 for 8 days is ridiculously high, even for under 21 rentals.

There *are* places that will rent to under 21. You have to call the smaller "local" outfits that have lesser vehicles. Look in your Yellowpages, NOT online.

<>I would think probably not, but why not just call your insurance company and ask? I'm sure they'll be happy to ask, and you can also ask about alternatives. (BTW: Renting you a car for 8 days for 1G is exorbitant, so I'm sure the insurance company would not pay that amount).

i doubt that they will pay for this, its the sad truth but sometimes they just wont cover this ,you can talk to your insurance company and tell them what you need, and they might get on the other insurance company's case and get you a car,but usually the wont help with this, but if i was you id try ,if you can talk to a guy on here named cowboy bill he knows about all that stuff really good,he can answer that one better than i can, good luck with it,,,PS the guy above has a real good point a thousand bucks for 8 days ,no way on that one that's way too much.

it only takes a phone and 8 numbers to find out...

i wouldn't get your hopes up if i were you...

i got rear ended and had to have my entire exhaust system replaced, and my bumper was severly scratched and cut...

insurance only payed for 70% of the exhaust damages which costed over 1500 dollars to replace... (used parts i may add)

i had to fork over approx. 400 dollars for the exhaust, and my bumper, still, to this day... has never been replaced...

i didnt do anything, I GOT REAR-ENDED... how do i end up in debt $600?

thanks, insurance.

good luck..
