I think Amity is an adorable name.
I would not let the fact that it is referenced to the Amity ville Horror movies change your decision in naming your child. Honestly, I did not even think of amity ville horror when i first read the name. I just thought "Amity, what a cute name" then you reminded me of the movie. The only thing is "Amity ville Horror" would be a pretty awful nickname! I would never base what i name my child on what nicknames they could potentially have. If you name your daughter something common like Susan kids will just end up calling her Fart Face or Butt Head or something else mean they could come up with! Go with Amity, Adorable.

Not especially.
If you used that name you could always call her Amy for short if Amity didn't work out.

Eh, it can go either way but when i read the name it reminded me of the Amityville horror. Its a cute name, it would sound ok if you found a nice middle name to go with it.

Does it scare me... no. Do I like it.... no.
But what I think doesn't matter in the slightest!
If you love it, if you think it's pretty... then go for it!
People will get over the movie coincidence. And if they don't... it's their problem.
I thought you were going to say "Dracula" or something and I would have said... yea, a lil' scary.... Ha!

i don't think that ppl will connect it to often. i think it is pretty. but be warned those movies are based on supposed true events. but there is a place called Amityville in New York state but i don't really think that matters

amity I'm not too sure about that. But if your not pregnant chances or you won't use it. I use to swear if I had a boy I would name him Michael Anthony. Still love the name but I had a boy and I used neither name.

while you might be fine with it, you have to think about how others in your child's life (while she grows up) might judge her. Not that it would be right--at all, but it is a real possibility. however - you do what you think is best. you might just have to put in extra support time for your daughter when she hates you because of her name. (it would be one more reason on her list, all kids seem to hate and blame the parents at some point in time) my opinion. good luck to you.

It's your decision to name your child whatever you want. Just remember that she will be the one that will put up with those that are just plain mean and make fun of her. I am not saying the name is scary, I am just saying that you have to think of how your child will feel with whatever name you decide to give her.
