It doesn't start the very second you get out of the water, it takes anywhere up to about an hour for it to start again. I used to avoid swimming when I had my period cause I hated tampons, but I found the bleeding used to stop when I'm in the water anyway. Some people think that it doesn't stop when you're in water. I don't know if it works for everyone, but I'm sure there is a reason it happens (like to stop shark attacks lol).

your period does not stop in water. it is the water pressure that doesnt let it flow out. so depending on the flow it should start flowing again as soon as you step out of the bath tub or whatever water you are in. better to be safe, use a tampon(if you are talking about a pool or hot tub). it would be really embarrassing if someone saw it. Good luck and feel better soon, I hope I helped =]

Yes, it does stop in the water, but you want to go and put a tampon in or a pad on within a few minutes of getting out. I don't know why this works, but it does.

I've had this happen to me after I take a shower and usually, I start flowing again around five to ten minutes after I get out of the water.

It doesn't stop in water - you can still bleed while in the water if you are on one of your heavy days. If you are on a light day, you may be able to go without a tampon.
If you are on one of your heavier days, it will rub off on your swimming suit and possibly discolor the surrounding water.
Wear a tampon for everyone's safety.

i think what she's saying is that she doesn't bleed all over the pool. and yes, its a temporary cessation because the uterine and vaginal muscles contract in cold water. bleeding usually resumes id say about 10 minutes after, but some people bleed right after stepping out of the shower or what have you.

It starts coming out right away because there's no more pressure to keep the blood in.
