its from aeropostale, are their clothes pre-shrunk???

if it is pre-shrunk or pre-washed as indicated then it wont shrink.

If the shirt is knitted, it's likely to get shorter and wider... that 's the nature of the fabric structure.... and is often perceived as "shrinking."

Else, it depends, as other posters have already noted, whether or not the garment was pre-shrunk.

Depending on "how" the shirt is too big, it might be easier to tailor it; the result will be much more predictable.

You can try it and see. Cotton does shrink a lot; it seems though when I want something to shrink it doesn't shrink enough. Put it in the dryer after washing and that should shrink it enough for you though.

Yes, cotton shrinks a lot.
