Your permit is only valid in the state you live in. So, where do you live, New York or New Jersey? You don't get to pick and choose.

You need to take the Jersey permit test. Then take your road test there.

ive tried they make you take the learners permit in NJ your not allowed to transfer it but if you need to quiz yourself heres a link

i took it for my high school drivers ed exam provided by the state and when i re-took my test and used this link to practice i got an 84
