A NIC, Network Interface Card, and a LAN card are the exact same thing.

A NIC is a Network Interface Card. A LAN is a Local Area Network. You use a NIC to connect to a LAN by attaching the NIC to a network switch. There are a myriad of vendors selling both NICs and network switches.
