In a league that is just pregnant with weakness and wackness I really don't think it's fair to just say he's the best of all time. Wow, I can think of several PFs that I would take before him.
Certainly you can make a case that he is as good a PF as any that have ever played the game. Honestly, if I could choose between Duncan, McHale and Worthy. I probably wouldn't choose Duncan. Then too, I would probably be splitting hairs because all 3 guys are somewhat different with McHale and Duncan having the most similar skill set although Worthy can do all the same things those guys do too.
I HATE KEVIN McHALE!!! Why? He was so damned good and he played for the Celtics that I hated so very much. His ability to score with that damned jump hook of his made me ABSOLUTELY SICK! I wanted to vomit each time it went in! He was any bit as good in the half court set as Duncan.
James Worthy. James could do anything, include take guys all the way to the glass. Duncan could NEVER fill the lane the same way James did on a fast break. He was very versatile and could ALWAYS defend the other team's PF no problem.
Duncan is a great player, his number bear witness to this fact. The problem is that San Antonio is dominating a weaker NBA than I have ever seen before. It's not his fault that the league is down.
Unfortunately, he is getting older, 10th season as young, unseasoned guys are coming into the league and look to be physically imposing. Another thing that hurts SAS is that they are in a small market so they do not get as much exposure.
Plus, let's stop throwing Karl Malone under the bus! His numbers are just GAUDY! Unfortunately, the Jazz ran into 2 buzzsaws, the Lakers and the Bulls. No sense blaming Stockton or Malone. As a matter of fact, if I remember the Malones' Jazz SLAPPED AROUND the Spurs in the playoffs.

Larry Bird is a small forward. Bird may have played PF in Kevin McHale's absence, but Larry is mostly a SF. And Kevin McHale may have more rings than Tim right now, but stats show Timmy is much more dominate.
Karl Malone may be great, but I will have to give a slight edge to Timmy because Malone was just co-anchor of the Jazz with Stockton while Timmy is the sole-anchor of the Spurs. Even though Tony got the Finals MVP this year, it was Tim who got them that far.
And the closest PF to Timmy is Dennis Rodman. Rodman was the unquestioned King of the Board of all-time NBA. And he played in the late 80's and the 90's. It's pretty darn amazing. Dennis is one of the all time best defenders too. Dennis's defense is probably better than Tim's. And Dennis also is a very excellent shooter. Much better than Tim. But Dennis had a lot of problem with drugs, sex, and alcohol. And Dennis is not that great of a sportsman as Tim had carried himself.
So Tim Duncan is definitely the best PF of all times.

1. Tim Duncan - imo, modern day Bill Russell
2. Karl Malone - prototype of what power forward should be.
3. Bob Pettit - HOF(1970); NBA champion (1958); NBA MVP (1956, '59); 10-time All-NBA First Team (1955-64); All-NBA second team (1965); Rookie of the Year (1955); One of the 50 Greatest Players in NBA History (1996). Only player to lead his team beat Bill Russell and the Celtics in a championship series (1958)
4. Kevin McHale - http://youtube.com/watch?v=rtDNTt5p3F8
5. Charles Barkley - round mound of rebound

Lets get this straight: Larry Bird played small forward, not power forward. kevin mchale was the power forward and robert parish was the center. The only power forwad comparable to Tim Duncan is Karl Malone. Malone won MVP and was a great scorer and rebounder but Malone did not win 4 NBA titles in 9 years. Tim Duncan was the MVP of 3 of these finals. Duncan has a career double-double and he is only 31 years of age, which means he still has a few years left to win more titles, and more MVPS and he has already solidified his place at the top of all power forwards by his ability to carry his team to the top time after time. He has won 2 MVP trophies, Rookie of the Year, 9 time all-star. was named first team all-nba in his first eight seasons (total of 10 times), one of only 4 players to do so. He has also been named to the all-defensive team 10 times. Tim Duncan dominates in every aspect of the game and nobody who has ever played his position can say they have done that. He is a leader on and off the court for the Spurs.
ps- Dennis Rodman has no right to be compared to Tim Duncan. To put him ahead of Karl Malone or some of the other great power forwards is just nonsense. Rodman was a great rebounder but his antics on and off the court destroyed his team. Ask the Spurs in 1994 when San Antonio should have won and not Houston but again Rodman's antics ruined the chemistry of the team. Rodman was a great rebounder..great defender (better on the perimeter than duncan but not better all-around). Why is he even in this conversation?

Tim Duncan aka "The Big Fundamental"...four-time NBA champion and a three-time NBA Finals Most Valuable Player. He has also won the NBA Most Valuable Player twice, and was voted into nine All-Star games, ten All-NBA teams, and ten All-Defensive teams.
Career average 22.1 points per game, rebounds 12.1, with remarkable 3.2 on offensive boards and shotblocks 2.50.
In addition to his impressive statistics, he has gained a reputation as a good clutch player, proven by the fact that his playoff career averages (24.1 points, 12.7 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 2.7 blocks per game) are even higher than his regular-season stats. Still, the power forward's main drawback in his game remains his inconsistent free throw shooting, with a career average of less than 70%. But the numbers, stats, and most of all THE RINGS!!!! don't lie
Tim Duncan hands down

Tim Duncan for sure. He is not only spectacular on offense, but he is one of the best defensive players in the league. He sets the tone for the Spurs. He is the ideal teammate, completely unselfish. He only cares about what's best for the team. One last thing, he is probably one of the least big headed players in the NBA.

I AGREE WITH YOU, THE BEST POWER FORWARD OF ALL TIME IS TIM DUNCAN. AND JUST IN CASE YOU WASNT SURE, TIM DUNCAN HAS BEEN IN THE LEAGUE 9 YEARS TOTAL AND HE WON THE NBA FINALS MVP HIS ROOKIE SEASON BACK IN 1999. AND THE NEXT 2 TIMES THE SPURS WON, HE HAD WON THE MVP AWARD (THAT WAS 3 IN A ROW FOR HIM). AND PLEASE I AM NOT TRYING TO ACT KNOW-IT-ALL HERE BUT I WANNA GIVE YOU THE FACTS (UNLIKE SOME OF YOUR OTHER ANSWERS). LARRY BIRD CANNOT BE CONSIDERED THE BEST POWER FORWARD EVER BECAUSE THAT WASNT HIS PRIMARY POSITON. HIS POSITON WAS SMALL FORWARD. SURE HE COULD PLAY EITHER FORWARD POSITION, OR EITHER GUARD POSITION BUT, HIS MAIN POSITION WAS SMALL FORWARD. AND YOU CANT REALLY CONSIDER A PLAYER WHO NEVER WON A CHAMPIONSHIP IN HIS CAREER (KARL MALONE) ONE OF THE BEST AT HIS POSITON ALL TIME.
