I think all forms of protest are legal, as long as you don't cause any trouble.
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances. "

Well, you can't go on the pet store's property. You will get arrested for disturbing the peace. And, most places require a permit for you to hold a demonstration of any sort. You really should call the city and check out the laws. Some places will allow you to set up a booth with information regarding your cause. That way people can come up to you, and you won't have to worry about unlawful solicitation.
I think it is very good what you want to do. I would even call the police station (not emergency) and ask them for advice. You may even call some lawyers, explain how old you and your friends are, what you are thinking of doing, and maybe they can give you some free advice. You may even have better luck by giving a local humane society a call and ask them for information. I'd bet they'd be able to help you and your friends.
Bless you.

There might be some conflict about posting a flyer on the window of Petland (private property), but you could hand out flyers to people outside the store, mabye offering free anti-puppymill stickers (I believe HumaneTeen could help you with that). I'm actually 13 too and am involved in that sort of thing. Some really good websites that could help you out are http://www.humaneteen.org/ , http://www.hsus.org/ and http://www.stoppuppymills.org/ .
Good luck!!! Right On!

You'd have to look into your local laws. I don't think there is anything illegal about simply posting a flyer, assuming the Petland doesn't have a problem with it.
I'd just ask before you do anything, though I don't think there should be a problem

If you put it up on the outside of their store...Yes.
I recommend you research the topic and write a letter to the editor of your local newspaper. There are also bulletin boards where you can put stuff like that up like at different stores and stuff. Just make sure you get permission from the store first. The thing to remember is to get permission first.

They might kick you out of the store, but you have a right to protest peacefully.
You go girl! That is a great idea!

Probably. My advice would be NOT to do this. Go about it a different way. Perhaps get some OLDER people involved.
