I travel on the highway a lot, about to start college and live in the desert. Does this car stand extreme temperatures, need to much gas or leaks oil easily? Any Chevy owners that can give me some advice? Or what other options are there that are not too expensive?

Not real familar w/ the later model small Chevy's. But, I have owned Chevy's all of my life and wouldn't even consider an import(rice burner). Over all, I have had pretty decent luck w/ 'em, too. The key issue w/ ANY vehicle is properly/scheduled maintenence and they(any vehicle well, almost any) will serve you well.

YES, I would definitely recommend a Chevy. Even if, it is one of the smaller compac's versions.

Good luck!

I have a 2006 Chevy Cobalt LS sedan 2.2L 4 cylinder with 5 speed tranny, and after a little clutch issue at 3,000 miles that was correctly by simply having the dealership fix the adjuster I haven't had any major issues as of yet at currently 12,200 miles on it. I average 35MPG mixed city and highway.

The cobalt seems to be a good option for not much money. I have a friend with one, and she wrecked another landing on the roof - she was uninjured, got out of the car herself. Went promptly down and got another. We live in the desert and it serves her good.
I have an old Chevy Truck with over 200,000 miles on it and it runs great.

Dont get a Chevy if you travel alot and need a dependable car..... if you want a smaller car that is good on gas and dependable get a Toyota or VW.
