Funny that everyone replied associated love with sex...when I read this, I associated it with love, peace and togetherness. Of course, I am a child of the 60s and no, unlike popular belief amongst the children, that decade was NOT all about sex, drugs and rock and roll. People were kinder toward one another. People were more decent, far less greedy...you could go to bed at night and leave your windows open. It was un "PC"...you didn't need to be PC because people already respected one anothers rights and feelings. People weren't potty mouthed selfish brats, only out for themselves like they are today. It was a wonderful era, despite "the news". You could turn the TV off and have a great life, knowing your neighbors (who all spoke english btw). Everyone had everything in common - I think thats why it was so good. The way things are today, I just beg for someone to shoot me to get me out of this trashy era...

I think most who have responded are missing the point, I think he's talking about the lack of hatred amounst the young people back then, yes there was a lot of sex, drugs and rock and roll, but we didn't hate each other all of the time. I remember the freedom riders coming to the south to help get black voters registered to vote , whites and blacks hand in hand, and we murdered them.
A great leader in MLK and we killed him. He didn't want any different treatment for blacks than he did for whites. His "I had a dream" speech should be required reading. The leaders who were for progress in our country were murdered, JFK, MLK, RFK .
We ended up back with old school bigotry that continues to plaque us today.

There was no love in the 1960s! It was a horrible horrible decade! There was the Vietnam war, the feminist movement with all those awful feminists that didn't use bras or shave their legs, and hippies and liberal were allowed to run amok and ruin our society! People, even college students, were allowed to use dangerous drugs and even insult their country and its policies in war! That's not even to mention the awful music that was spawned from the 60s from Woodstock and other such events!
Yes sir, the only good thing that came from the 60s was Star Trek.
