The sinking of the Titanic is not just a story ...... it was a real ship and it actually happened. There have been many books and movies about the event. Search "titanic" and you can find information about this actual event from history.

The Titanic was a real ship. It really crashed into an iceburg and real people died. However, the movie starring Leonardo DiCaprio invented a love story with made up people set on the Titanic. It was written by James Cameron.

While there were thousands of stories written in newspapers at the time, the "Titanic Craze" started in 1955 with Walter Lord's book. " A Night to Remember".....and then the film by the same name a few years after.....reading book and seeing movie as a kid was the motivation for Cameron to make his own movie...
