your network card should have DHCP client enabled.
check whether you have provided some IP address or its taking automatically.

go to network properties
then select your network card
open its properties
go to general tabs
now select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)
now click properties
click on obtain an IP address automatically

if its already check
then do start->run->cmd

ipconfig /renew

using this you can get a new ip address
else reboot your dsl/modem and you will get new ip address.

i hope this will solve your problem.

You may have an unexpected guest on your network. Normally, networks are set up to automatically assign IP addresses to machines. Usually, there are about 250 of them available, but it's possible to restrict the number to provide only the minimum needed for the expected machines, in this case, two. But if an outsider managed to get the IP address you had, the part of the router that assigns them would not let your machine renew it.

Have your dad or someone with some network savvy look into the router and see if its assignable DHCP addresses are only a few. If so, this might be the problem. Securing your network would be the answer.

If you have no experience in networking things, the simpliest action is to restart your Wireless Router & followed by restarting your PC also. Try it and see what happened. Hope the IP renewing is success now :)

Instead of using old DOS commands, which many kids cant use very well because they have always used a GUI to navigate a computer, do the following:

Click on the Start Button
Click on Control Panel
Click on Network Connections
Right click on the Network Connection you are using and click on Repair

Thats it.....

goto start > run > type "cmd"

In the command prompt type:
ipconfig /renew

then type ipconfig /release

that's it. You have to release it after renewing it, otherwise it won't work.
