Hello,
I'm a collector of Nancy Drew, I have books dating from 1930 on. I know the character pretty well, and I took my daughter and her girlfriend to see it.
I for one enjoyed the movie. It wasn't fantastic, but I appreciated that for once, Hollywood made an attempt to stick to the original character that made the series famous.
There were many nods to the classic Nancy Drew: her good manners and her "can-do" attitude, giving 120%, etc. They poked fun of her perfectionism (It was, after all, light comedy), but they did it without insulting fans.
(Our society has an aversion to people making an effort towards being a decent person, for some reason; it makes the average person look worse, probably, so they want to drag characters like ND down to make themselves look better. Okay, I'll get off the box--especially since Nancy Drew isn't a real person, LOL.)
Anyway, loved the retro car, clothes, etc. Loved the fact she was a decent girl trying to do the right thing and genuinely wanted to help people.
My 2 cents,
TM

I love Nancy Drew. I have all 56 of the original books from The Secret of the Old Clock to The Thirteenth Pearl. I love how Nancy can do anything and I think for the time period these books were very inspirational. One thing is that Nancy has been 18 year old for 77 years. (If you're talking about the new movie with Emma Roberts, I haven't seen it yet, but I'm sure I'll love it.)
