I believe the song is "Tippy Toeing" by the Harden Trio 1966.

Just listened to the song "Tippy Toeing" and it does have the lyrics you quoted. The Harden Trio was a country vocal trio of siblings Bobby, Robbie, and Arlene Hardin from England, Arkansas
