ok...let's get something straight here. preppy doesn't not mean popular. sometimes preps are popular but it isn't a prerequisite for being popular. And secondly a preppy person would never be caught dead wearing ripped jeans. have a look at any ralph lauren ad..that is a prep.

preppy people are all about dressing very simple, very clean, and looking polished. Abercrombie, Hollister, and whatever other store that is considered "popular" are not by definition preppy. You would have to spend a lot more money for that at places like ralph lauren, j. crew, brooks brothers, talbots, etc.

and as you get older, you will learn that labels are silly and don't mean anything. I like to cross fashion boundries and wear all sorts of styles. Why limit my normal preppy style to just one thing? style makes me unique.

I'm not preppy or anything, I just wanted to tell you that this is a very good question. I always wondered too what they thought of the un-popular people who dressed like them.

First of all, wear what YOU like! And anyways they might:
1. Like your clothes and compliment you.
2. Be jealous that your purse is so cute and they have the "last season" one.
3. Think your a wannabe. But that's stupid and why does it matter. If they don't like that you wear what they are wearing, that is just immature. They don't own that style of clothing, the designer does! So wear what you love and flaunt it!

Hope I helped.

um no cuz ripped jeans aren't preppy.
a vineyard vines skirt would be.
it doesn't matter if someone who's not popular dresses preppy, because that's just on the outside.

Are you high school aged? After that age this stuff really doesn't matter. But lemme think back...Yeah, I would've probably thought they were wannabe's. Or I would've asked where they got their bag, goodwill? Everyone has their own style, and when someone tries to look like another when its obviously not their thing, eh thats just lame.

i never liked the preppy girls. they were always snotty to us "less popular" girls. I guess i was a wannabe, but i finally learned to be comfortable with myself and make my own friends.

i don't care. i'm friends with anyone whom i get along with...of course i go to a reallly liberal school in CA...we don't really have cliques...XD but seriously, a true friend wouldn't judge you on how "popular" u r or how u dress.
