family will be driving to Buffalo and Boston this July. I am a HUGE basketball fan as is my son and we are contemplating a visit to the basketball hall of fame. So I am wondering if anyone has visited and what you thought of it. What is their to do? How do the exhibits compare in terms of scope, interactivity, expertise, diversity of exhibits to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Baseball in Cooperstown and Hockey in Toronto (thought hockey was ok, loved baseball and rock however baseball is my fav sport or passion for that matter). Will a devoted, religious hoops fan feel as if he has achieved nirvana or would he simply feel unimpressed?

You are heading to a really great place for history. I have been to the Basketball Hall of fame. Indian Motorcycle Museum, the Springfield Armory, ( very impressive if you like historic and unusual firearms), not to mention Faneuill Hall, the "Old Ironsides" ship at Boston Harbor,Washington's church, Paul Reveres shop, and for the ladies, Fileens bargain basement.( Guys, just stand back and let them fight for the deals)

Get a hotel close by and take either the MTA or cabs. Driving isnt a good idea unless you are used to this type of driving. When I was there, they had blue laws. No cabs running on Sunday and you could get stuck very far from you hotel. I did.

While you are in Boston, try Anthony's Pier One restaurant. Many Presidents and film stars have dined there and their pictures line the wall. ( I base all of this on my experience in 1984 but if you get a current copy of Fodors Guide to Mass. and Boston, you will not have enough time to see everything if you were there a month)

I've never been myself, so I can't tell you exactly what the experience will be like. However, I am a huge basketball fan as well. If I was ever in a close proximity to the Hall of Fame like you will be, I definitely couldn't pass up the opportunity. You should go for me, just in case I never get a chance to go myself. LOL.

Look at it this way....even if you are somehow disappointed (though I personally don't think you will be), you can always look at it as another of the major sports that you have gotten to see the Hall of Fame of. Wouldn't it be awesome to say you were at all of them?
