Dimebag Darrell Abbott was the lead guitarists for the metal bands Pantera,Rebel Meets Rebel and Damageplan who was shot and killed by a derranged fan in 2004 who was distraught over the breakup of Pantera.
All in all, Dimebag was one of the best gutarists of this generation.

Dimebag Darrel was best known for the lead guitarist in Pantera but he also formed Rebel Meets Rebel as a side-project. After the break up of Pantera he formed the band Damageplan. Dimebag was shot and killed onstage along with 3 others in the crowd during a Damageplan concert by a crazed fan who claimed Pantera had stolen songs that he had written. Apparently he was a nutcase.
