I think it is appropriate for a 12 year old. and it's a really good movie. No the sexual content isn't bad they don't show anything.

The movie is PG-13 for some sexuality and language.
The sex scenes don't show much, but there is quite a bit of talk about sex. If you have to ask, you should have your parents (if you're the 12 year old) watch the movie either with you or before you watch it, so that they can preview it. If you are an adult asking, then you should watch the movie before you let a child watch it. In my opinion, it's nothing bad, but then again, everyone is raised differently. My husband has a 15 year old cousin who isn't allowed to watch it because of the rating.
