I have been kind of itching to play an MMORPG lately, and I play on and off over the summer for fun, usually don't play as much whenever school starts.
Back in 2004 I played Star Wars Galaxies, my first MMORPG. It was fun, but I got bored with it after a while. During 2005 I played a lot of the free RPGs, you knoe, Kal Online, Rose Online, and Gunbound if you would consider it a MMORPG. Last Summer, 2006, I can't remember really playing any. This Winter Break I played Free Style Street Basketball, but the game was very limited and I got tired of it.
So, it brings me to this Summer. I have dabbled in my old Runescape accound from 2002, but the game, on the whole, is kind of unsatisying and unfilling, kind of like a snack to the meal that was Star Wars Galaxies. Even if you're a member, its kind of meh.
So, I'm willing to pay up to $15 a month, and I want it to be kinda new, so that theres not people trumping me that have played for years. Suggestions? I appreciate your time.

There are a bunch of free MMORPGs out there. First I'm going to tell you about the browser based MMORPGs, then I'll mention somewhere you can see the downloadable.
To play games in flash, there are Dragon Fable and Adventure Quest (In both you have to pay to have full access to the game, and notice that Dragon Fable is still under construction and that it's hard for non-members to login into AQ). There are also those community based flash games (that some people consider to be MMORPGs) that are becoming really popular: Gaia Online (that I already played and that is really cool), ClubPenguin, PuzzlePirates, and i think that Habbo goes the same way; in all of this games you create an avatar and play games like fishing to get money and personalize those avatars.
There’s also the pure browser based ones: Tibia is a fairly popular game, BiteFight and Knightfight are OK. Travian is a strategy MMOG, also pretty good. There’s also pokemon crater (but it has a lots of publicity) and, my personal favorite, FallenSword (it’s much like pokemoncrater, only that it doesn’t have lots of publicity, and has a guild system that stimulate interaction, not to mention the lottery and the auction system).
The downloadable... well, i think it's harder to speak about them. I'll also give you a link for the "List of free MMORPGs" on wikipedia, where you can see the downloadable games out there (in this list you can read about other browser based MMORPGs as well). Take a look at the websites and check the screenshots, maybe you'll find some that interest you. My favorites are MapleStory, Anarchy Online, Monsters and Me, Trickster Online (really good, you should consider this), Flyff and Silk Road. Seems like Rappelz is also pretty good.
There are also some really good free downloadable MMORPGs coming out: Sword of the new world (a.k.a. Granado Espada, where you can control up to three characters at once - but you'll have to pay so that you can get over a certain level) and the global version of Lunia (it's still on closed beta, but will soon come to open beta late this month).
See you.

heh, well. One game I am totally hooked to is Flyff.
Flyff is a FREE MMORPG, with 4 classes. (Merc, Assist, Mage, and Acro) Character creation is OUTSTANDING. You can choose Male//Female, pick your hairstyle (you can pay to change color when you're in the game) pick your face and your in. You go as a vagrant for 15 levels (You level pretty fast) then you do your first job change quest. Then at level 60 you choose your second job change, (depends on which Class you are) then do that quest. You can party, and get lots of exp. Flyff is also the first MMORPG in which you can Fly.
People are pretty nice on there, easy to play, no "stupid Noob" comments like on Runescape. Easy download. Ermm. Let's see. 3d game, not many bugs. They are always updating and havning fun events.
So anyway. That's what I recommend I've been playing for over a year now and i'm still addicted :D

Try rubies of eventide. (www.rubiesofeventide.com)
It's got like 140 character classes you can choose from and several races you can be. It's true 3-d graphics and is FREE to play!
Not like FLYFF or rapplez where if you want to progress you have to buy things out of their store with real money.. there's no hidden agenda, it's actually free.
And the graphics are much better than the other games I've tried like runescape and maplestory. Some people are easy to please I guess.. they play those :)
Anyway.. there is also several different types of crafting and mining, etc. Lots to do and places to explore. It's a reall fun game.
There aren't a bunch of idiots on it either .. well, depending on the server you choose anyway (the "anything goes" servers are just that) since there are constantly GMs online that moderate the chat, etc.
It's free, give it a try and have fun!

quite attempt a activity talked approximately as Ragnarok on line. in case you have already heard of it, much extra appropriate. I used to play, end once you had to start up paying to play... Had a 7X Knight on Iris. it particularly is an exceedingly exciting, common rpg that has the main magnificent classification device. you are able to particularly get into it, particularly with the attractive music flowing via each map. I rather reccomend this activity, and with the aid of how, you are able to play a unfastened server that has a decrease exp fee, yet continues to be exciting. If all else fails, play a private server.

why pay? try playing free ones like Flyff, Rappelz, Maple Story etc. and even if you do want to pay you can buy "cash shop" items and may get an "upperhand" in the game so to speak. Or you can wait a while and try out a gme called "Hellgate London" looks so fun but its not out right now.
And if otherwise play WoW (world of warcraft) but i'm not so sure about the cost though.

Like the guy suggested before WOW (world of warcraft) is a blast. They add on all the time so you dont get bored. There is alot to learn and do. Its 10 bucks a month. You need to make sure you have at least 1 gig of RAM before you play and a decent video card. Its MONTHS of fun. You can create mulitple charcters on multiple servers. Oh to check it out just go to www.worldofwarcraft.com.

Last Chaos has a lot of stuff to learn about, but its fairly simple. You can get pets such as horses or dragon, when its mounted you can ride on them. There's whole lots of skills and events going on. The best thing is that its free! You can pvp and whole tons of stuff!
