AC/DC
because they didn't make good singles;
they made good albums ENTIRELY, sometimes even releasing more than one a year, and without copying someone else's stuff
with the exception of "Baby Please Don't Go" by Muddy Waters

You Gotta go with LED ZEPPELIN!!!! Look at their whole body of work Houses of the holy , Physical Graffiti, In Through The Out Door, Led Zeppelin 2, 3, 4..... Presence and who can forget The Song Remains The Same. plus whatever else I left out.

Don't get me wrong all choices are good groups I mean who can forget VanHalen 1,2 , Women and Children First and the awesome Fair Warning but after that album they got flakey.

AC/DC was awesome too Dirty Deeds and Back in Black to mention a couple

The Who Is a very close second and now that i think about it it might have to be a tie with L.Z.
Hell they did Tommy, Live at Leeds which is a great album (the anniversery rerelease is a must have)Quadrophenia as was Who's Next and the great biographical movie The Kids Are Alright.....not to mention other's

KISS Just plain kicked A S S but they don't measure up to Zepplin and neither does Aerosmith.

it is neck and neck and the winner is..................................................
L E D Z E P P E L I N!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Elton John was the #1 selling artist of the 1970s.
You have a nice list. I would pick Led Zeppelin. I think they had a greater influence on rock and heavy metal than the others listed. Just my opinion.

I would have to say kiss since i was named after one of their songs but aerosmith comes in at a close second. Van Halen with sammy hagar was great never heard them with roth so i don't know which was better(third).

Great choices but it's got to be Led Zeppelin.

What they did starting in 1969 defined what rock was. Some of the others on your list would not have existed without them.

My favorite is the WHO out of these choices, but Led Zep is hard to argue. The only one who sucks is KISS. They were great marketers but can barely play their instruments.
