that frequently adolescents have Homosexual adventures at single sex boarding schools yet reject same sex relationships for Heterosexuality when they are able to access the opposite sex after school. Is it due to insecurity, any ideas.

It's not a matter of being scared. It's a matter of the companies policies. I worked for a company and was "outed" by co-workers. I was told prior to my "outing" that I was going to be promoted to upper management. I continued to work for two years, and the company denied a promotion. I spent ten years at that company and had excellent reviews. I realized that me being Gay in this company will not work out. I left and found a company that is accepting of Gay people. But because my Bills need to be paid, I'm not going to take the chance of being out at my new company. I am still a Top performer (no pun intended), and it's not worth the chance of loosing what I have worked hard to achieve. (experience). It's every person's individual right to disclose who and when they decide to share their sexual orientation.

I do not pretend to be a psychiatrist or anything. However, from what I have read, most people who "claim" to be gay at a very young adolescent age, usually do so because they were were molested as a child and then tend to feel very insecure later, especially in pubescent years. They may do it also, to feel more like part of the crowd, if that is being done at all male boarding schools. I would venture to say, though, that just like males tend to bragg to peers in High School that they slept with the prom queen or something when they really did not, also the same goes for these boys. They probably are not as promiscuous as they would have you believe, unless of course you have seen these deeds actually in first person. But I would venture to say that any young males who do this so young have been molested at some point. They would all need help if that many of them do it. They probably are bragging, but even if there is only one couple, they probably need counseling at that age, because as you state they begin to act straight when they begin to see young girls later on, they are either trying to hide it, or they never were actually gay at all. Nearly all adolescents have sexual problems especially at puberty and are adventurous and curious, but most normal young boys are not at all preoccupied with the idea of sex with males. Any young boy feeling that way definitely needs help. I believe even most actual adult gays would agree that pubescent years are the ones when most males or females are just beginning to understand themselves and that is no time to be sure of what their inclinations are until they are old enough to understand the consequences of what they are involved in. Straight or gay, there is a time when sexual orientation and acting upon it is just not feasible for all kinds of reasons, just as it is better for all of us to wait until we are old enough to accept the consequences of our actions and know what we are doing.
In this culture, that age is usually 18. Promiscuity is a big problem in the US these days. Not to mention the various STD's associated with experimentation at such young ages.
But the short answer to your question is they probably "reject same sex relationships" later on because they were too young to understand what they were doing earlier or they came to a decision that they definitely were not gay after all.
