I have a two foot vine from plant after one month. Do the potatoes grow from nodes on the vine?

If it is sweet potato Ivy then no. To get a potato you have to plant a piece of potato with eyes. The vine that you get at nurseries are just vines. These vines grow very fast.

I live in Florida and grow sweet potatoes--both ornamental and the regular edible kind. They grow extremely well, but we have the climate for that. They can be pretty much left alone once established but you would have to give them a lot of attention in Australia if you are in a hot area. We are having rains and 98 degree weather and mine are fine--but your area is dry so I'm not sure you will have much of a yield. Good luck
