I saved the cup he came in along with its lid with holes in it. I'd wait til he was up at the surface and then lower in the cup bottom first. Once the rim hits the water it starts filling rapidly. That rapid fill will pull him right into the cup if he's next to it at the time. I like this better than the net. I'd leave about a half inch of room to the top of the cup. Then, I just snapped the lid back on so he can't jump out; the holes allow him to continue breathing.

I'm assuming he's in a small bowl or tank. If so, remove him and put him into a cup, pour out the water in the bowl and replace with room temperature dechlorinated water. Put the fish back in.

If you have a decent size tank (anything above 2.5 gallons) you'll want to do a partial water change where you use either a cup or a siphon to remove some of the water, then replace the water with dechlorinated room temp water. You don't want to remove him for a partial water change.

To take him out, just net him.

If you mean in a bowl, you should remove him from the bowl with a net and place him in another similar sized container with the old water while you refill his bowl with fresh water.

If he is in a filtered tank, you shouldn't remove him and instead should only change about 25% of the water once a week.

I always just used a cup. If you can't fit one in your tank use a small measuring thing and then put him in a cup. You might hafta chase him around a bit and make sure you put him in something he can't jump out of!
