I would like some people to recommend some good songs for me. Songs in the genre of Rock if you will. I like songs that have actual meaning, nothing about getting laid, or high or any of that nonsense. To give you an example I really like Audioslave's "Yesterday to tomorrow", and "be yourself". Also, name some kinda sad songs, dunno why but I like em...

SAD or ROCK? Okay.. I'm not sure on that. If by sad you mean.... slow and kind of emo... Evanescence has lots of these, as well as rock, such as: Hello Like You My Immortal Your Star Missing All That I'm Living For Sweet Sacrifice Weight of the World Going Under The Veronicas: All I Have Heavily Broken In Another Life Someone Wake Me Up My Chemical Romance has lots of good rock songs, and so does Switchfoot.

I'm big lyrics myself...good call on audioslave.
Also, thumbs up to Dani G's list...not a bad one on it!
Some of my favorites:
Metallica albums "Ride the Lightning", "Master of Puppets", and "...And Justice for All" tackled everything from suicide, drug addiction, to political issues.
Social Distortion has many songs that tell life stories. Some of the better ones are "Winners and Losers", "Prison Bound", "I was wrong", "Bad Luck", "Story of my life", "Don't Take me for granted", "Reach for the sky", "Nickels and Dimes"
Almost every song Face to Face did has a personal feeling to it...like the songwriter (Trevor Keith) was using his music like a scratch pad to figure out life. Some of my favorites are "Disconnected", "Burden", "You Lied", "Velocity", "1000 X", "Big Choice", "Put you in your place", "Shoot the Moon", "How to ruin everything", "Don't turn away", "A Wolf in Sheep's Clothing"
Suicidal Tendancies has some good songs too...my personal favorite is "Alone"
Also check out Bad Religion and Rise Against...

well here's some of my top 25 from my ipod.
i listen to punk/screamo/alternative.

macy's day parade- green day. this song is mainly about the band's commentary on commercialism, and how people want materialistic things all the time. The song explains that we all want something, but it's not material, all we want is to have hope in his life.

radio- alkaline trio. the ultimate break up song.

chop suey!- system of a down. a little satanistic, but awesome.

pieces- sum 41. this song is about trying, but just not making it, being a failure. sad, sad song.

good riddance- green day. classic.

go- blink 182. never wanting to leave, yet yearning for something different.

one people, one struggle- anti-flag. standing up together for peace and we will never be defeated.

LA.X- big d and the kids table. mainly about society.

cute when you scream-senses fail. revenge.

lithuim- nirvana. great song. the name is self explanitory.

those are some of my favorites. anything from green day, blink 182, nirvana, system of a down, anti-flag, or sum 41 is awesome.
