Slope = Change in y / Change in x

a) Slope = 2 - - 3 / 2 - 1
Slope = 5

b) Using point (2, 2)
y - 2 = 5(x - 2)

Using point (1, - 3)
y + 3 = 5(x - 1)

c) y = mx + b ; m = slope, b = y - intercept
y = 5x - 8

The slope is 5. Subtract the rise. Subtract the run. Rise over run is a rational number that is your slope. In this case:
-3-2=-5.
1-2=-1.
-5/-1=5.
The order that you subtract y-y (rise) and x-x (run) is not important. It's only important that the order is the same for rise as it is for run.
If instead you subtracted:
2 - (-3) = 5
2-1 =1
You would still get 5/1 =5.
The slope would still be 5.

m = (y2 - y1) / (x2 - x1) = (2 + 3) / (2 - 1) = 5 / 1 = 5

y = 5x + b

Using the point (2, 2):

2 = 5 * 2 + b

2 = 10 + b

b = -8

y = 5x - 8

5x - y = 8
