I never fast my fish. There is certainly no scientific evidence that it helps them in any way to fast them.

I've have 2 bettas who have problems with constipation. After I started fasting one day of the week and feeding them some cooked, de-shelled, frozen pea, they have not had any constipation.

I know many owners and breeders who fast and/or use the pea method to keep them healthy and regular. Though it is up to the individual. If your betta becomes constipated or bloated, I believe it is worth trying.

I fast my Betta's. Only when they are constipated. I had to fast my male a few weeks ago. I fed him a shelled pea and then I didn't feed him the next day. I have read many sights that say to do this, but I wouldn't unless your Betta looks bloated or you know he is constipated.

I heard fasting a betta for 1 day and then feeding it a pealed clean pea is good for its digestive system. Although their is no evidence backing this, i would do as MM says since he breeds them and ive never owned one ==

well it just depends, if you feed it every day you can hold out 2 days if you feed it every other day you can go 3-4 days.. bettas can go more then a week with out food. I dont recomend going past the week (7 days)....

You shouldn't fast your fish. How would that be good for them. I agree with magicman.
