I don't worry about being fired or laid off, but no job is secure, Not even if you own your own business. I figure the doors swing both ways and I was looking for a job when I found the one I have so I can always find another somewhere.

I thought it was secure since I worked for the state, but after being off on medical leave I was forced to quit of be fired and if I quit, I retained the right for reinstatement once I was able to go back to work, so I chose that option. Either way I wasn't going to get any unemployment benefits.

Honestly, I don't think there is much job security at ALL right now. I work for a major health insurance provider, and even though they need people to do the job I do, they could easily downsize and not be impacted that much. Many corporations are training employees on EVERYTHING, just in case they need to do something like this...even if they are a multi-billion dollar corporation.

My job is secure in the sense that I will not be fired or layed off by my employer. It is more likely that my employer's license will get pulled and he will be forced to close the business which will obviously end my employment with him.
