I'm getting very interested in the idea of making my own shirts and such. How can I turn my thoughts and ideas into digital images. Graphic tablets and those pads that you draw on?

I draw and paint simply using Adobe Photoshop. You can also scan your hand-done drawings into your computer. If you can't afford a scanner your local office store can scan them and put them on a CD for you.

I recommend Wacom as the tablet or you can draw by hand, then scan the image into the computer and fix it up in a paint program. Photoshop is the most popular, but there are other applications that are free (such as Gimp and Paint.NET)

I have a Wacom Tablet and it works very well -- you can't do the same thing with a mouse. I also have Corel Painter IX, but Corel Painter X is now available and you can download a free 10-day trial at the Corel website.
