Only as American as the assembly lines in Japan where they're made. Interestingly enough, you can buy a G35 in Japan as a Nissan Skyline (like Blackheart pointed out, under the Nissan name).

I'm going to assume you are wondering if the Infiniti G35 is built in the United States. The G35 is built in Japan by a Japanese company Nissan (Infiniti is a Nissan division). Here's the twist - Nissan is largely held by a French company - Renault. Renault saved Nissan back in 1999. Think about the Nissan lineup back in 1999 - their cars and truck felt tinny and didn't look too hot. Think about the Infiniti lineup in 1999!
If you are looking to purchase a "Japanese" entry level luxury car that is built in the United States, you are limited to one brand - Acura. The Acura TL is built in Ohio, even though it is a Japanese company (under the Honda brand).

The Infiniti G35 is produced by a Japanese automaker (Nissan) in a Japanese plant. (I think they are built in Tochigi, but they may be built somewhere else also)
They have very little North American parts content, but it's a great car to drive.

American car companies couldn't build a car like this. Reliability, value, performance for the dollar. Only imports offer this. Only thing American on the G35 is the driver.

It is a Japan car, but it could be built in America.
If the Vin # starts with a J then its made it Japan, if it starts with a 1 or 4 then its made in the US.
