The glass is both half empty and half full at the same time depending on whether you are an optimist or a pessimist. The optimist sees it as half full and the pessimist sees it as half empty. To me, it is half full. I have found through the years that it is better to look at life in a positive way. The optimist will always strive for a better future. The pessimist will declare the future 'dead' and will sabotage any effort at self improvement.

It depends on what is in the glass...If water it is half full, please don't fill...If beer it is half empty and i could use another. Right now, it is a ice cool Coors light on a bright and sunny day in California and although it sound negative it is half empty because i look forward to what the next full glass brings my way.

Both. But when I look at the glass, I like to think that it's half full. Then I drink whatever is in it.

It's half full, because the natural state of the glass is empty.
It was empty when it was created, so when it contains liquid, it is half full.

Tonight as I look out the window and see a slice of moon hanging low in the western sky I notice that my glass is 1/2 full working on a quarter.

I agree this does depend on how the events of the hour, day, or week have gone or are going. Events can change so fast that you don't always have time to contemplate on how things seem at the moment. For example, when my mother went in to surgery to have her cancerous lung removed my glass was definatly completly empty. When she came through surgiry alive, defintly full. Did I have time to think of these kinds of things,no. Ihave just thought of them in these terms and it's been over 3 years since that dredful day. So my advice to you guys is to live life, take trhe ups and downs and don't sit and ponder on things to hard or you may miss out on something very important in your life.

Half full because there is ALWAYS hope. Within every dark spot time that you may be facing, there will always be some light that shines through. Whether or not it is a lot or a little all depends on how open/optimistic you are on the situation.

if i paid for a full glass of stout and it comes to me with even an ounce less than full, it counts as empty. not half empty, but TOTALLY EMPTY
if i order "bottoms up!" and when we're done any man's glass has even a drop left in it, that counts as being full.
if i want it full and its not full, then its empty
if i want it empty and its not empty, then its full
