Since you have to be busy... plan your relaxation time... Say to yourself .. from this time to this time.. I am going to watch tv.. from this time to this time, Im going to read a book, from this time to this time, Im going to take a nap etc...
I had the same problem.. if I slowed down, I started thinking about a million and one things... I couldnt take it... I had to keep busy. I started going to a counselor and I am on antianxiety pills...They have helped lots. Now I think a little more about myself and do things for others a bit less. I make time for just me... and I am much healthier.

I'm a lot like that too. I start to feel like I'm wasting precious time if I relax.
One thing is to remind yourself that if you relax once in a while, you'll have more energy to do the things you need to do. You'll probably get them done quicker and better, if you have a relaxed mind.
It helps me to write down things. Sometimes, just organizing what I am going to do makes me feel like I have a handle on it, enough to relax a bit!
Set times for things. Like, relax only for 15 minutes to begin with. That's only 15 minutes. Surely, you can do that much without feeling too guilty. But in those 15 minutes, REALLY relax. Do NOTHING! Just be. Maybe sit on the porch and just be one with the nature around you. Then, if you can increase the time little by little that you are able to relax, it will probably not feel like such a chore!

I'm not a doctor or anything so this is not coming from a professional point of view, but I think that if you can find something that keeps your mind off what you think you need to do then go with it. Try different things like reading, listening to music or maybe just take a minute for yourself to relax and unwind each day. That might be all you need.
Hope this helps!

For each person, relaxation comes in different ways. For some, a hot shower or bath helps them to relax. For others, like myself, I listen to music or play guitar or another instrument to relax. Some sit down and watch tv. I know how you feel though. Oftentimes, I have a difficult time relaxing. Music helps me the most, by far. It sounds like you may have some obsessive compulsive traits with the constant feeling to do something. Have you ever looked into that?

It sounds like you can't relax because you are under alot of stress. I responded to a similar answer and cut/pasted it below.

Your body can be eased from stress through exercise; however, your mind may need other tactics to relax. A few recommendations I have for you are as follows:
1. Put the stress into perspective--many times people stress over things not 'stress-worthy'. Try not to stress over things that are out of your control. Focus only on those things that you can do and do them.
2. Do not get overwhelmed--It is easy to 'through up your hands' and walk away in stressful situations. Pick one event and get through it, then take another and work through that one, until you work your way through the areas that are giving you stress.
3. Clear your mind-- take a break from your stress to think about positive things. Think about good times in your past and upcoming things in your future, even if it is as simple as walking the dog. Focus on these things. Positive images will counteract the negative stress emotion.
4. Treat yourself-- a coffee or retail therapy never hurt in stressful times!
5. Mentally relax-- go to your favorite nearby place, outside or in your house. Close your eyes and take deep breathes. Pray!

Go for a run/walk.. youll be doing something and itll be a good way to clear your mind. Or you could try listening to music.. sometimes when i need to block out my thoughts turning up my music does the trick. Maybe taking a hott shower/bath would help relax you too. Or try reading a magazine, or taking a nap. Good luck, and hopefully youll be able to relax!!

Chamomile tea is a natural herbal relaxant. It is non-caffeinated, 100% legal and non-pharmaceutical. Some MD's even consider it a valid homeopathic medicine for people who are hypertense or who have severe muscle spasms.
It will not interfere with medication, but will be cancelled out by caffeine.

well theres plenty of ways to relax. How about daydreaming. Or reminiscing. Thing about the past. Good thoughts of course. How much fun you have jad in your life. Your accomplishments or how your relationship came to be, how you met him. I always reminisce to relax. Its a good feeling recalling the past. Thinking over some things that have occured to you. Its quiet, its calming, and you can be alone while you do it. If it helps you can also listen to music while you reminisce.

I Love to take a nice long bubble bath and read a book with a glass of wine. Before I had my baby i did that almost every night when I got home from work. It really helped me unwind and take my mind somewhere else.
