I have an odd size back door on my house. The veneer is gone from the bottom to about 2/3rds up. The interior is a wood particle and falls off every time it rains. I've been thinking about putting a new veneer on it or a very thin sheet of metal. What is the best way to repair the door without replacing?

try to find a something that matches the whole door then paint or stain the door to the same color so it won't be noticeable

Two thirds of the door skin is missing and the interior is falling out!!! Repairing this door is akin to putting lipstick on a pig.
