Diesel powered automobiles are very popular in other parts of the world, especially Europe.

There are two reasons why a diesel powered car is not as popular in the United States.

1. The environmental lobby has brainwashed enough people into believing that a diesel engine pollutes more than a gasoline engine. The TRUTH is just the opposite. While a diesel produces a more visible exhaust, the actual emissions coming from a diesel are much cleaner due to a diesels higher combustion temperatures.

2. In the early 1970's General Motors produced a line of diesel powered cars with an engine that was actually just a converted gasoline engine. It was not reliable, and had many, many problems. People who had them became "turned off" to a diesel car. Of the European diesel cars available at that time most were noisy, and seemed extremely underpowered, compared to the big American V-8's.
