My cousin's name is Melissa and I like it just fine. She's never been known by any nickname, so I think that depends.

Melissa is a nice name, but I really love the Russian version of Melissa - Mischa. It sounds so exotic and pretty.

I've always not liked the name Melissa. But names are nobody's business but the person with that name. I do not like it because they are almost always called "Missy". I like Elissa, Alyssa.
