Aparantly yahoo mail can't handle the full version with many photos and music. Is there a way to compress the file (like thumbnailing a picture) to send a large power point file to an Email address?

Probably not much more than it already is. More recent versions of powerpoint save things compressed as it is, so further compressing it would have marginal results at best. You would be best off posting the file somewhere and sending a link to it.
