My ps 2 slimline is doing some very odd things help?

first...the discs couldnt be read and it would make this sound like the eye couldnt read the games and dvds I put in then when I would turn it a certain way it would work temporarily then for a while it worked again. Recently as in this last week, something happened and it wouldnt turn off unless I opened it and it still wasnt reading discs. Ok here comes the odd part the big one anyway...All of a sudden... It works...Whats going on??? What should I do? Should I take it to the video game place and get it repaired or what is going on...The thing works great now..........Oh and when I put in a disc now. the thing comes up sony computer entertainment but then it showes the blocks and stuff in a different formation Like the system got upgraded ITS WEIRD HELP!!!

first I would see how long ago you bought it and look at the box. call sony (number should be on the PS2 box) and hopefully they will resolve the issue. If you've had it for a long time then the warranty most likely expired.
