Why do some Democrats believe that Children don't need a good father and a good mother?

I got 5 thumbs down for answering a question with the comments above. I guess I don't understand that. I thought it was just common sense that children need a good father and mother.

I guess the next step for the conservatives would be to outlaw divorce. Like the argument of how can you support the troops but not the war; how can you support family values while allow more than half of the marriages to fail?
Why was Ronald Reagan promoting traditional values for everyone when he didn't live by them?
If we go to the biblical sense of traditional values why is bigamy illegal? Should it not be required as that is what the bible shows as examples of marriage.
I think you better stick to watching "Leave it to beaver" reruns to obtain the utopia you are trying to find.

To say that a child needs a good father and mother may make some sense, but in reality, it just doesnt stick. The father is either good, or he's not, same for the mother. High number of prisoners is obviously due to a large number of people committing crimes, not necessarily that they grew up with divorced parents. Youve gotta face the facts here. There are bad parents no matter what out there, no matter what you might think "is best" The real world just isnt that way. In these cases, dont you think it would be better to be raised by the better parent, rather than by one who is good and one who's bad? If parents arent happy together, it does no good for the kids which leads to its own set of problems.

That is the ideal, but it doesn't mean that a good family can't be just a mother, just a father, two mothers, two father, grandparents, whatever. Sometimes the mother and father don't work out together. It's better to have a less than ideal family structure than to have a father who beats the mother, parents who are constantly fighting, a parent who can't get off drugs, or no parents at all and be stuck as wards of the state.

We need to promote the family, in all it's forms. A non-traditional family is still a family.

In a perfect world maybe but we don't live in a perfect world as long children are loved,secure and allowed to develop without others prejudice instilled on them they will become happy unselfish adults .
Most people don't even raise their own children anymore they are raised by day-cares and I think in their first few years they should be with someone who is prepared to make sacrifices for them and not be a part time parent no matter who they are.
After all children only have one childhood and most are missing the most precious times of their lives to keep up with the Jones.

All children do need parents. These can be biological or adoptive parents. the important thing is that parents are there to nurture the young. This is, however not always the case. There are far too many orphaned and abandoned and abused children. I do not know of any Democrat that stands for breaking up the family unit.

problems like the higher number of prisoners might more logically be attributed to the enormous lack of dignified jobs in our economy, an educational system that teaches people not to think and a lot of very unevenly applied laws.

It's common sense that if there are not enough jobs to go around, and schools don't teach people how to create their own work, then crime becomes steadily more of an alternative.

Still I suppose you are allowed to have your opinion on this.

Exactly, if it was COMMOM SENSE for stating it. That's probably why you got the thumbs down, or if it didn't relate to the question, or it might just have been trolls.

If I said in a random question "THE SKY IS BLUE" I bet I would get 5 thumbs down.

The Democrats are a polyglot party and one part is the liberal wing. Like many leftist groups, they want to be able to train children to believe as they do but see parents, as individuals, as an impediment (might teach religion, local culture, individualism, etc). One good example of this was one of the most infamous of leftist groups, the National Socialist German Workers' Party (Nazis) - they wanted a sort of assembly line to procreation with the best genetic samples making lots of kids to be raised in groups by other selected individuals with indoctrination from the get go.

Going to make divorce illegal, along with abortion, is that it? Like you don't have enough people in jail now?

Like it would matter even if you could force people to live together, when both parents typically have to work all day anyway.

You want to promote good families? Let women sell their babies to the highest bidder.
