First of all, it will be fine for a few days without food.
If you really just feel the need to feed it something else, that's fine too as they can really use things other than fish food in their diet.
Goldfish are omnivores and require a fairly well balanced diet. About 40% protein, 25% fat and 35% carbohydrate. These should come from a variety of sources to give a proper balance of vitamins, minerals and micro nutrients.
Most any vegetable is good goldfish food assuming you soften it enough for the fish. Green veggies are particularly good.
Sugars are not really needed in a fishes diet and can basically be ignored. They are biologically cheap energy, but the fish will get all the quick energy it needs from the carbohydrates in the veggies.
As for fats and proteins, the best source is from things that grow in freshwater. Cold blooded animals need and store different amino acids than warm blooded animals and therefore things such as insect larvae, aquatic crustaceans and freshwater fish will offer your goldfish the best balance of fats, proteins and amino acids. Beef, chicken and pork should all be avoided if possible in favor of the more digestible and better balanced sources of proteins.

Your fish will be fine without any food for a week or two. Don't worry, fasting will do no harm. Most beginning fishkeepers attach way too much importance to putting food in the tank. The real concern should be the opposite. Keeping as much food as possible out of the tank is very important to healthy fish and healthy water. Concentrate on keeping the water quality as pristine as possible, this is facilitated by cutting back to one tiny feeding per day and one or two fasting days per week. Try it,you'll find your fish will be much the better for it.

There is probably still a little food in the tank, and I know sometimes I forget to feed my goldfish. Get to the store soon though to get him for food.

Smash some dry cat food. I've been feeding my pond fish cat food instead of the much more expensive fish food. They are all growing like crazy, fat and multiplying like, well, like cats!

Fish can go days without food and be just fine. I wouldn't give them anything else. Sudden changes in diet can make them have digestive problems.

Very fine bread crumbs should work until you can get to the store. Either that, or just wait. He probably won't starve.
