The Importance of a CLEAN HOUSE?

why is it so important to some people to have an immaculate house? I can see if a person lived in utter filth.that would not be goood. but it doesnt make some one a bad person if their house is messy!

I hear ya! OCD cleanliness and magazine cover rooms drive me crazy! I also like the slightly lived in look, so long as it isn't dirty at all! A little clutter here and there drives some people nuts, but 15 minutes a day is all it takes to keep a home tidy.

I always thought of my mom as a clean freak. I thought I was clean- but not to her constant cleaning type attitude. I thought, "I'll never be like her, cleaning on weekends."

Well, once you move out or live or sleep with someone that DOESN'T clean as much, you miss it. I miss going into a clean bathroom that doesn't have dust/ fuzz/ toothpaste on the counters. I miss the mirrors being clean, without all of those little water dots above the sink. I miss the dishes doing themselves. I miss the floor not having dust bunnies. Or shelving getting dusty.

I guess most importantly, I MISS A CLEAN HOUSE, so I clean. Not only does it LOOK better, but it's one less thing to worry about when you have guests over. I don't have to make a whole day to clean the place, I do it here and there... and over time, it evens itself out.

Another note, while I was dating a lot (I'm in a relationship now).. I would go to the guys house and see how he lived. It says a lot about a person. It tells me how much he values his personal stuff, and if he likes to live cleanly. Now, going to their homes, I would dismiss some dishes in the sink, but not the whole damn cupboard being in there- it says he's MORE than lazy. Messy bathrooms are SO disgusting. I once went to use a guys bathroom and in the sink were nail clippings, ALL OVER. I almost puked- that personal stuff does not need to be seen on ANY dates. Another time, I saw a shelf that was absolutely COVERED in dust. This was not just dust, there was so much it looked like mold. IT says that people are lazy.

You're right though, I don't think these people are bad, I just view them as lazy, and able to sleep/ breathe/ and live in filth.

I "like" a clean house, but it's just about always alittle messy. 4 Kids at home, so I give up. It's just not gonna stay really clean and shiny. I mean, I'll do the dishes, and 5 minutes later, someone is getting a snack! You can do all the laundry, then everyone showers and there's all the dirty clothes and towels. Boom....laundry again. And that's 2 loads for 6 people. So, as long as I don't have "filth", I'm o.k. with the house. What cracks me up is, it's your turn for the holiday dinner, and you clean like hell! Why? It sure doesn't look that way when everyone leaves! LOL!

Different people have different preferences- different tastes- as well as different opinions about everything. To one, cleanliness around the house means, everything is well arranged and not a single dust can be seen on top of the TV. But to others, cleanliness could mean simply having your dirty dishes in the sink and mind it later.

Overall, to have a clean house is a reflection of the person who lives in it. It says a lot about that person's personality and priorities. If you have 3 small kids to attend to but can barely manage your house, it's just fine- well at least to most people. But really, there are also those people who can't stand the dirty dishes in the sink even for a few seconds.

So, even if you seen someone living in a messy house, I guess it's just fine. So long as that person is a good friend to everyone and not a person who messes up with other people's lives.

I guess I'm kinda a neat freak, because clutter and dirt drives me up the wall! I can clean all day long! When I go over to my friends' houses, I usually wanna just start cleaning for them...especially my guy friends' apartments! Ugh! But I don't think badly of people who have messy houses or anything...I just can't personally stand for MY house to be messy at all.

If someone has a messy house it does not make them a bad person. If they have a constant DIRTY house it makes them a slob. I think most people get a messy house, and that just means it is "lived in". Being clean is a must to prvent bugs, and germs, and also to be comfortable. But being a littel messy is just fine. :)

If it's my room as messy as i make it, but if it's someone else's house then i wouldn't mind it clean not immaculate, but clean, if it were someone that walks around with a bottle of cleaning spray and a cloth wiping down everything after you touch it i would get pissed off.

I think it the way some people are wired. I lay in bed at night and think of all the things that need to be done. My house is very clean and my friends make fun of me. My mother was always cleaning and it was ingrained in me that things should be perfect. I wish I could change. It is an inner drive though.

there is a big difference between a house that is untidy and lived in compared to a house that is filthy and those living in it are just as bad, messy pigs. You walk into someones home and they get uptight because you so much as move some thing, then those people gotta loosen up amongst other things. You walk into a lived in house your more then likely to be welcomed as a relative or friend...makes no difference. People walk into my home and ***** and complain cause your house is'nt what there's is as far as being up to there standards then I'll show them where the door is. it's as simple as that.

Who said it was important? Once in a while I find a beer can behind the computer, but other than that...

I know what your problem is. You're hanging out with that female crowd that finds it important. Come over to the other side...just don't complain about the dust.

You're a nice person. It's the clean ones that are the problem.
