there has been a shooting in Melbourne. 6 shots fired and so far one person dead and what do the public do? They all run out and hang around to see what is going on. The shooter has not been caught yet. Would you hear a shooting and run out to look? Or would you stay were you are and lock the door? I know which I would do.

Whatever happened to good common sense, or using ones head? I would stay inside until it had been confirmed that the perpetrator had been caught. I wouldn't take the chance of getting shot myself. But some people obviously lack common sense, or the ability to use good judgment.

No, it cannot be. A shooting crime in Australia? Not possible since guns have been outlawed.

It only proves the point: when guns are outlawed only outlaws will have guns.

What a senseless tragedy. If there were a few legal citizens packing, that guy would be dead in the street and not out running around waiting to terrorize more innocent people.

Well, being in law enforcement, I'd assess the scene, notify paramedics and police by phone, and then approach the scene to try and help the victims. So no, I would not lock the door and hide while my neighbor(s) bled to death in the street.

Sounds very stupid, doesn't it? The truth is, though, people are totally drawn into situations like this. It's just like how everyone in high schools and middle schools swarms to fights. People like to see excitement, and I guess they're used to watching fifty hours of television and sitting on the Internet all day. Blame this on the media and it's influence to encourage laxness in our society. There's your problem.

Even though it pales in comparison to other stuff happening these days... I agree that people are just "unreal"! Hang on to your hats... What's about to hit us is bigger than anything we've seen as a race (human) since we were thought of...

Very idiotic. It makes you wonder what will happen if the whole country were to be under attack one day. We don't have common sense.

That does sound rather silly, doesn't it.

I'd stay under cover, but I'd also be "locked and loaded".

People are stupid. Life is so cheap sometimes, they don't get it, do they?
