To be honest, i played high school baseball and I too wore eye black. I played the outfield as well. For me, eye black did not help that much with the sun. So the only reason I wore it just because i wanted to stand out. People have crazy designs and other stuff so that is another reason.

They wear black eye paint under their eyes because the suns energy will be absorbed by that so the sun won't be in their eyes as much and no it doesn't represent anything

They wear black under their eyes in the mistaken belief that it cuts down glare. It was reported a few seasons back that a major league outfielder asked his buddy to apply the black under his eyes. The buddy put a clear salve under them as a prank and the outfielder never noticed the difference.

the whole point of it is to keep the sun out of your eyes. The black absorbs the sun but since its under all the sun goes under thier eyes instead of in thier eyes.
