This is a great list with some books that usually don't make the required reading lists. The Spirit Catches You will appeal if you like non-fiction. Hunger is beautiful but bleak. I haven't read Palace Walk but do like Mahfouz. And Bee Season is very good.

Moll Flanders and Portrait of a Lady. Both very interesting books dealing with two sides of the same subject. You should enjoy both. Pax - C

The only one I've read is The Poisonwood Bible, but I recommend it highly. It's long, and it's depressing, but sooo good.

I'm reading Poisonwood Bible right now and it's really good, so I'd recommend that one.
