Depending on how much money you have, I would get the 17 inch ATI video card equipped Mac. Depending on your school, it is very likely they have Macs there, but even if they don't, common applications from Microsoft are available on the Mac as they are on Windows. In fact, the 17 inch iMac will run both WindowsXP service pack 2 and Vista through Apple's Boot Camp. The iMac also comes with iPhoto, iMovie, iDVD, and iTunes. If you are into computer gaming, then through Boot Camp, you can run Windows for games as well. Given you are going into high school, I would make sure to get the 17 inch iMac that comes with either an ATI video card or an nVidia GeForce video card. These cards help both games, photo, and graphics software run faster and more smoothly. I would also make sure to purchase either Apple's Appleworks 6 or Microsoft Office 2004 Student Edition with the Mac when you get one.

Mac is the better quality and more reliable system and unless you're into hardcore PC gaming i recommend that, especially going to school where PC's are apt to pick up viruses from downloading, friends' discs etc... and Macs are not prone to many viruses at all.

If you ARE into hardcore PC gaming however, Mac is not the best choice for that particular activity, so I'd have to say HP.

I recommend the HP. Never buy Toshiba, it really sucks. I had Toshiba and I refunded it and bought Hp, It is really good. For Mac, I think it is kind of hard for you, because it is actually used for doing engineering stuffs. So I prefer Hp. I am in 11th Grade. So I think it is good for you.

Go with Apple. They come with many awesome apps. Plus they have some very cool free games. Like racing and shooting. Even the cheepest ones run extremely fast. It feels faster them my $3000 Windows Vista Computer. Plus if anything goes wrong with it Apple will fix it fast. My laptop screen went bad (which was my fault) and they gave me an upgraded one for free. Make the switch to Apple. Believe me there is a reason why its the #1 sold computer on Amazon.

Yea kid stick with the PC for the time being. When ever they crash it's not all that hard to figure out how to fix what is wrong with it.
