Napoleon owned over 150 horses in his lifetime and many of them were killed in battles while Napoleon was astride. Most of his horses were gray Arabians. He did, however, own and ride several chestnut colored horses. Also he owned a pure white Norman horse named Indendent which his royal guard nicknamed Coco.
