Well you sound like me i started with a 10 gallon and I should of started bigger. So i didn't have to spend the extra money. In the End it was OK I put both my tanks up and i am having so much fun with them. I have seen gold fish live in a 10 gallon all there lives and did very well. But they say they need bigger. You do have time But If you got the money Why not start getting it cycled and get them in it as soon as you can. GOOD LUCK!!!

That depends on the type of goldfish to some extent as they do grow at different rates, but as a rule I would suggest you move them to a larger tank when they are about 4" or so.

Gold fish are extemely messy fish, it's suggested 10 gallons per goldfish in most cases, some variety of gold fish require at least 20 gallons.

remember it's alot easier to maintain and keep water parameters with larger tanks then smaller tanks, and you can add more if you wish without thinking if your overstocking or not.

Id suggest doing your tank upgrade as soon as you can.

the standard is one inch of fish per gallon of tank. however, it has been my experience that you can go over that amount. I have a 55 gallon and keep WAY MORE than 55 inches of fish!

depending on the type of goldfish you have. once your fish hit 24 months they will be half the size they will grow to.

In your 10 gallon, once they hit 5" not including the tail it is time to rehouse.
