Evangelion movies?

I have a question. I just saw the series and everything. ONE OF THE BEST ANIME SHOWS EVER I must add. But are the Evangelion movies continueing from the show or just a movie but all into one movie.

There are three movies out in total. One is an alternate ending to the tv series. The others expands on the alternate ending.
It was announced that they are making three more prequel movies

i think that they are just new movies that has nothing to do with the series.

i must agree that it is one of the best anime shows.
