This school year, we're moving out of state, so of course, I'll be in a new high school. [I'll be a junior]
I'm pretty shy, so I really want to be mroe outgoing for this new year, so I can make alot of friends.

I'll be taking Spanish III and for another elective, I want to take Drama I.
However, one of the requirements for graduation is to be proficient in keyboarding, and to have atleast taken a keyboarding class.
My mom wants me to take keyboarding this year, and drama next year..but I want to take Drama this year, because that will probably make me open up more, and be less shy.
I can take keyboarding next year, since I won't be taking Spanish IV, and I can take Drama II next year as well.

So how can I convince her to let me take Drama this year and keyboarding next year?

Thanks

Honey, you did a dang good job of making your point right here. Tell her what you told us...by taking Drama I this year, you open up a part II for next year. She'll probably be understanding...plus, you can play the whole "I'm in a new school and it's hard enough without you allowing me to take the classes that I REALLY want to take.." toss in a touch of guilt and a big dose of logic...and she'll listen. Good luck in your new school.

explain to her that you think Drama is a great way for you to open up to people. Honestly Its your schedule and you're the one that has to take the classes not her. I would never tell my mom that lol so I know how you feel. I am going to be a Junior this school year too and I want to become less shy too! I'm going to run for homecoming court I don't like drama. I might try public speaking. In drama they teach you many techniques (Including how to breathe!) to become more adjusted to the audience. Good luck!

Let me tell ya. Act out a scene say like if you are cryin over something or act like you are really sad about something, not this drama situation, but act like a friend betray you or something dramatic, and keep her going for at least an hour, then break her the news, it was all DRAMA. Maybe that would convince her to change her mind. But you have to do a damn great job.

Tell her your still going to take keyboarding and if you do drama you will get more friends because you would rather have friends than type the rest of your life and besides your going to do keyboarding eventually

just tell her you'll take drama this year b/c you can even take keyboarding at your local community center (for little or no charge) and they will almost always give you school credit for it too. talk with your school counselor about it. if he agrees its a good idea then tell your mom that too b/c if ur counselor agrees, why not your mom?

show her that your keyboarding skills are improving..go buy a at home keyboard thing to help you type and such...this way she knows you'll be set for next year and you'll get your drama done this year :-) hope this helps

Yes, tell her that you believe that drama will help you make more friends cause it will force you to be more out going.

Tell her in a nice way that you are the one going to school and you should be the one to decide what you want to take.
