Although we all love animals, sometimes we simply have to be realistic about nature.
we ran across a similar situation in our neighbourhood last year, only with a bunny. I called the local animal shelter to ask advice, and believe it or not, they assured me that we should leave it alone. They suggested that if the mom didn't come to get the bunny soon, a bird probably would. Circle of life and all that.

Cruel as it may seem, the best thing you can do for him is to leave him be. If you handle him, the stress could be deadly. Animals are tough, I've seen a doe with one leg missing for years now, and she's usually got twins with her. Nature has a way of taking care of it's own. I'm sure the chipmunk will be fine.

im not positive what you sh ould do, but a long time ago we set up a box with a fork holding it up half way and put some food under it . then we attatched a rope with tape to the box so when the chipmunk goes in you just pull the string and the chip munk is in the box. it will not hurt them. then if you have a box with holes in it or a cat/god carrier you can put it in that and bring it to a vet. good luck

Call around to vets on Monday and see if there are any places that take injured wild animals.
It's probably best to leave him be, but if you feel he is in danger of being eaten or if he is just laying around then maybe you should help him out. Be sure to wear thick gloves so he can't bite or scratch you.

i might attempt to discover a organic worldwide rehab on your section they might have adventure in treating them. Animals attacked with the aid of cats do not often stay to tell the story, cat scratches and bites in simple terms approximately continuously develop into heavily contaminated.

Sweetie, just leave him alone...Mother Nature will take care of it...it could have a disease or something like that, you just never know with a wild creature..
