The first thing to come to my mind was travel. But really most process involve an element of time. God does not need time and in a sense is timeless. Time is of benefit only to mankind and things of this universe. Time is not a fixed parameter. Time is an element of our universe which works with other elements to our benefit. Consider gravity. Consider speed and velocity, planning, living, and other things.

Mariah Carey

Oh, ohhhhhh, oh, I am...
I had it all
But I let it slip away
Couldn't say I treated you wrong
Now I wander around
Feeling down and cold
Trying to believe that you're gone

Chorus:
Love takes time
To heal when you're hurting so much
Couldn't see that I was blind
To let you go
I can't escape the pain
Inside
'Cause love takes time
I don't wanna be here
I don't wanna be here alone

Losing my mind
From this hollow in my heart
Suddenly I'm so incomplete
Lord I'm needing you now
Tell me how to stop the rain
Tears are falling down endlessly

Chorus

You might say that it's over
You might say that you don't care
You might say you don't miss me
You don't need me
But I know that you do and I feel that you do
Inside

Love takes time
To heal when you're hurting so much
Couldn't see that I was so blind
To let you go
I can't escape the pain
Inside
'Cause love takes time
I don't wanna be there
I don't wanna be there alone

Beautiful song.....
Sad song....

UNDERSTANDING takes time.

At so many times in my life, I thought that I had an understanding of myself, the people I love, the way human-nature works.... only to realise later that I had a piece of the picture, but it wasn't a cohesive whole. For some things (perhaps most), that 'cohesive whole' takes an entire lifetime to develop. And it is always changing. Understanding takes time, patience/impatience... and a whole lotta work!

The journey takes time. We are souls having a human experience. Thus, we live in an existence that has experiences, journeys and the aspects of time. Time does not really exist...yet here on earth...it does. While here we journey...that takes steps and time.
