No, there weren't any injuries. And even if there were we shouldn't use them as an excuse.

Pat Riley never used injuries as an excuse when the Sixers swept the Lakers in 83. Forget that Norm Nixon, Bob McAdoo and James Worthy were all injured.

Riley never used injuries as an excuse in the 1989 Finals, when Magic Johnson and Byron Scott were also injured.

And that Spurs team in 2003 was just great. I remember my wife, who knows nothing about basketball, making this comment while watching game 6 of the Lakers Spurs series, "Why are the guys in black passing the ball around but the guys in yellow are just standing and watching while Kobe shoots?"

And Shaq "held Kobe down?" Were you watching the games? Shaq was the only reason the Lakers were ever in it! I'm surprised Kobe didn't feed him down low more when guys like MALIK ROSE were guarding shaq. Then again, this is Kobe, so I really shouldn't be surprised he hogged the ball. Same thing happened in 2004 Finals - When the Lakers got the ball to Shaq, Ben Wallace couldn't stop him, but Kobe hogged the ball and bricked his way to a loss.

There were three key injuries. Starting power forward Samaki Walker was lost late in the season to a season-ending injury. Starting small forward Rick Fox suffered a season-ending injury in the first round - the Lakers played the Spurs in the second round. Also, Coach Phil Jackson missed Game 4 and was not himself at Game 5 due to angioplasty surgery.

If mental disability and lose of vision can be counted as injuries, Kobe was injured pretty badly suffering from many degrees of mental disability and continuous lose of vision.

Tht year was a bad year for Shaquille O'neal, It was Kobe's best year in the NBA since he was in the league. Shaq held back Kobe tht year, if he wouldve stepped up they couldve had 5 titles together.
